Firestop Specifications

I have a question for you about firestop specifications.  Sometimes the specifications call for single source, so you have one manufacturer for the whole project. Sometimes it doesn’t get that specific.  

I can see benefits to single source. But I can see drawbacks too.  

I’m curious what you all think?
